Wedding Tips Tuesday: 8 tips for a Summer Wedding

Planning a Summer wedding?  Check out our top 8 Tips for a flawless Summer Wedding!

Tip 1.) Planning an outdoor ceremony? No matter how beautiful the scenery may be shade is key. Be especially considerate of your guest when it comes to an outdoor ceremony. They may want opt out of the ceremony early because of the heat. You don’t want to rush through the beauty of the ceremony either.  Keep your guests nice and cool! A great solution would be to provide paper fans to your guest. You can even pair it with the ceremony program. Cute paper parasols are another alternative! They can double as props for wedding party photos!

Tip 2.) Pre ceremony drink station.  Consider welcoming guests with a refreshing drinks like lemonade, iced tea and spa water. You may choose whether it is a drink station or passed by servers . This is something you can solidify with your caterer during the tasting or if you forget be sure to give them time to organize the details.

Tip 3.)  Flowers. You may want to order an extra boutonniere, especially for the groom. The boutonniere is worn all day by the groom and it is especially fragile. It is best to order an extra boutinnere in case the flower starts to wilt or is damaged from all the congratulatory hugs from relatives.  It will come in handy if you are planning to take photos later in the evening. Also try to pick summer flowers well. Some last better depending on their water source. For example, you may want to rethink flowers in your hair. They won’t have a water source and may be the first to wilt, which is not the best on your big day!

Tip 4.) Choose summer appropriate fabric for your wedding gown, bridesmaids, groom and groomsmen attire. Turn to lighter fabrics such as silk or chiffon. For the groom and groomsmen you can opt for an open-backed vest or nice linen suit. You wouldn’t want awful sweat stains on your gown or wedding party’s attire.

Tip 5.)  Keep the cake in the refrigerator the majority of the time. It can be brought out by the caterer as it gets closer to opening reception doors or to cutting the cake. This will ensure that the cake does not melt or collapse and that no mosquito, gnats, and ants come near it.

Tip 6.)  Ditch the traditional cupcakes/ pastry dessert bar and add a frozen treat to your menu. Try a shaved ice station with a variety of flavors, made to order ice cream sandwich bar  or even a popsicle cart (These are a few treat our previous couples have chosen). Both of which may offer custom made flavors.

Tip 7.) Consider providing sunscreen and sunglasses for your guests. These items are often forgotten and is a necessity for the heat.

Tip 8.)  Plan accordingly. Most wedding planners or wedding coordinators will create a timeline of your event and will keep in mind the best times for each activity and plan accordingly. However, if you are planning yourself try to make a detailed schedule of the day. Give yourself time for everything. Having a timeline will help the day run smoothly and won’t add stress and rushing to a hot summer day. Shoot for a late afternoon ceremony and late evening reception. Later in the day is much better than midday when the sun is at it’s hottest!

We hope you enjoyed these 8 tips  to a flawless Summer wedding! Stay tuned for more wedding tips on our next Tuesday Quick Tips post!

The Beauty in Santa Monica Part. II

The long awaited Part II of Angele & Fernando’s Beautiful wedding is finally here.  (If you haven’t had a chance to check out Part I click here to watch a little glimpse of such a memorable night!). The wedding was held in the beautiful city of Santa Monica,CA at The Victorian. Such a beautiful venue and great staff. With just minutes away from the beach our couple was able to sneak off for a few minutes to take amazing sunset photos down at the beach. These photos truly showcase all the emotions throughout the day from surprise guest attendees, to heartfelt speeches, this night was amazing. We are very grateful to have been a part of Angele & Fernando’s big day!

Check down below to read all about the inspiration, thoughts and experience from our Bride & Groom!

From the Bride & Groom:

#1- Please tell us about your wedding inspiration.

Fernando and I are both romantic, traditional, and enjoy all things classic. We loved the venue the moment we visited, as it felt intimate, simple and elegant, and it set the tone for our theme. We chose soft, romantic colors, and got lots of ideas from the Style me Pretty blog.

#2- Why do you think hiring a wedding planner is so important?

We wanted to enjoy the wedding day, and we wanted our closest friends and family to enjoy the wedding day too, and therefore a wedding planner was a must. Everyone has loads of questions on the wedding day, and it’s natural to turn to the bride and groom for an answer; having a wedding planner to redirect all those questions to was key.

Early on, Love is Sweet helped us develop the right timeline, reviewed vendor contracts, and provided wedding planning tips along the way. On the day of the rehearsal, they provided clear instructions to our wedding party (a large party of over 20 people), and ensured we all knew what we were doing. On the day of, they were simply phenomenal. One assistant was setting up at the venue, while the other assistant was helping the girls out (bride and bridesmaids) and the other assistant was helping the guys out (groom and groomsmen). They picked up lunch for us, made sure we stayed on schedule, answered every possible question that popped up, connected with the vendors to make sure they arrived and set up on time, they paid the vendors on our behalf, put all the décor away at the end of the night and the list goes on and on.

I was really impressed by this in particular: On our wedding day, one of my bridesmaids (who lives in France) decided to surprise me by coming, which I thought would be impossible given her particular circumstances. She told my husband a couple months before the wedding, and with the help of Love is Sweet Events, they planned the surprise perfectly. Together, they though through every detail – the bridesmaid bouquet, the hair/makeup, the seating, the processional pairings, the carpool arrangements! It was the best surprise ever, and it amazes me that they pulled it off without me suspecting one bit! SEAMLESS!

#3- If you have to name one favorite moments in of your wedding day, what would this be?

We had so many special moments. It’s really hard to just give one.

When Fernando kissed me in the church the moment we signed the marriage certificate, that was pretty amazing. At that moment, it’s official and it’s really exciting!

#4- What would you like to tell your friends and family?

The love that we felt from all our friends and family was overwhelmingly wonderful. We feel so loved and blessed that so many of our friends and family were able to celebrate our special day with us.
